This piece was sort of a way to capture the feeling of “Tizita”. The weird feeling of grieving your old life but also simultaneously looking forward to your new chapter. Nostalgia/tizita is almost a genre of memory in Ethiopia. It’s represented as a bittersweet longing and appears in music, poetry and art. It allows for reflection of warm memories and at times can feel like a familiar face but you must remember not to allow it to drown you in what once was.
