Meet the artist
Tseday Balcha Girma
A howard university graduate student studying architecture, from addis ababa ethiopia

My cultural heritage is an anchor in my life. As an artist born and raised in Ethiopia, I try to intertwine exploring human emotions with African motifs; my aim for viewers to see reflections of themselves within my work.

My process is more of a dialogue than it is a creation—it is a continuous exploration of identity and belonging. My pieces delve into the tapestry of human emotions that resonate deeply with my personal experiences. Using contemporary interpretations of Ethiopian symbols, I strive to tell a story that unfolds through the powerful body language of the figures on my canvas. Our bodies often convey emotions that words fail us.
